Meeting

Points we are discussing:
  • Has the dyson viedo worked? No, try and re-post that later
  • Look into Fairy's advertising, they have been around since 1960 so although a bit after the decade we are looking at their marketing over the years may help us.
  • Who exactly is our target market? Men? Women? Students? Businesses? - we could pick a store then create a range for that store i.e. john lewis, wilkinsons.
  • We are going to pick a store then create a range for them, this way our target market will be defined by the shop we pick. But what store? Waitrose/John Lewis - could be sold in both stores, associated with good quality etc, Tesco, accessible, handy, Wilkinsons, popular, if we needed cleaning products thats where we'd go, good advertising, good quality products at low prices, has lots of other branded products.
  • We have picked wilkinsons becuase - it is the first place we would go for cleaning products, it has a broad target market, we can create a range that is exclusive to wilkinsons, it will be easy to get our products to customers and will be easy to market it with wilkinsons front window displays.
  • Will we sell the products individually or as a set? - could do starter packs with holder, duster, brush, etc the basic cleaning products then the large items sold individually - could do this august/september time and market at students. Could do special offers where you get a complete cleaning kit with dustpan and brush, mop and bucket, small cleaning items etc etc. At christmas could do extra special items, diamantes etc, christmas colours, cleaning hamper type thing all gift wrapped. By doing this at different times of the year we can remind customers of the brands existance.
  • How big are we going? - Hoovers? etc -  could start small then provide ideas as to how we can expand the business and product range.
  • Do we still have our own brand name or will be go under wilkinsons umbrella brand? - could do it '......' exclusively for wilkinsons so we have our own name but being sold in wilkinsons. That way if the brand did really well they could end the contract with wilkinson and start up on their own or with a more expensive shop ie john lewis. Also can have their own website that isn't connected to wilkinsons
  • What is our brand name? - We like hazels suggestion of Tidy Ups but it alienates the male market and therefore we limit our target market. So we are going to go away and think of a few names, so that in our next meeting we can throw 3 ideas each into a pot and decide on the best name.
  • How can we not alienate men? - market research - going to go into shops that sell cleaning products and see how they are marketed in a way that might appeal to a male shopper.
To have for the next meeting:
  • 3 ideas for brand name each
  • product ideas
  • results of market research
